6 Week Monoprinting Course at the Bristol Folk House

  • Bristol Folk House 40A Park Street Bristol, England, BS1 5JG United Kingdom (map)

This is a six-week course in monoprinting that I will be running at the Bristol Folk House.

The dates are 10 June, 17 June, 24 June, 1 July, 8 July and 15 July. Sessions run from 1:30pm to 3:30pm.

This course is suitable for beginners or more advanced students. I have plenty of practice teaching students of differing abilities.

My approach is playful and experimental.

During these six weeks, I will cover the basic foundations of monoprinting without the use of a press. However, the Bristol Folk House does have a portable small press, so this can be used if someone is particularly interested.

I will teach by demonstrating one or two techniques every week and supporting students as they play with these. As the weeks go on, students will go further into the process of printmaking and will discover how to layer imagery and colours to explore their own vision.

Nature and landscape will be our starting point.

Please bring an apron or clothes that can get messy. The inks are hard to wash out of fabric. A notepad or sketchpad is also useful for note-taking and for visual ideas.

For booking and more info, please go to www.bristolfolkhouse.co.uk/courses/exploring-monoprinting-all-levels-ba38-18752

I look forward to seeing you there!

And if you’d like a quick look at some monoprinting processes, please have a read of Cathy’s Guide to Monoprinting.

The Bristol Folk House is a lovely venue with a cafe and a multitude of creative arts education opportunities, in the heart of Bristol.
